Introduction

Goal

Our goals for usability testing are:

  • To identify problems in our apps
  • To uncover opportunities for improvements

Core elements of usability testing

Moderator

Moderate the flow of the testing process, observe how users interact with the app, pay attention to their facial expressions, and help users express their thoughts while using the app. The moderators are:

1) NurDiya Husna

2) Nur Hafizatul Wafa

Tasks

Activities that we want the user to test are the primary tasks that our app is designed for. In this task list, we also include space for users to comment on each task and provide feedback on the overall system.

Participants

The participants should be realistic users who might use our app, ideally teachers or educators. However, due to limitations, we could not find realistic users, so the participants for our usability testing is our three classmates.

Concept used

Qualitative:
  • users facial expression
  • critiques from users
  • idea from users
Quantitative:
  • task success

    Improvements

Based on the comments from the users and the analysis using feedback capture grid, we decided to address only the most urgent and important critique, which is to make the poll feature more visible and add text labels to the icons in the virtual classroom environment.

    Conclusion

Usability testing provided valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of our app. Through observation and feedback, we identified critical areas that required improvement, such as enhancing the visibility of the poll feature and adding text labels to icons for better user recognition.

By focusing on both qualitative and quantitative methods, including task success rates and user feedback, we ensured a well-rounded evaluation of our app's usability. The involvement of moderators allowed for effective guidance and detailed understanding of user interactions, despite the limitation of using classmates as participants instead of realistic users.

Overall, the testing process helped us uncover key opportunities for improvement, enabling us to make the app more intuitive and user-friendly for future audiences.

With this final step, it demonstrates that the design thinking process is not a linear process but an iterative process because designers still can go back and improve the design to satisfy userss.

With these improvements, we hope that our app will help educators worldwide conduct more conducive virtual classes, providing a stress-free and seamless experience.

Now, our journey to complete this project has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who has been with us and supported our journey since day one! 😊 - 17 January 2025
